Super excited for Documentary Now. Even if I hadn’t seen the source documentary every episode of that show still works. You can feel the inspiration dripping off the screen. Too bad “The Peripheral” is a dud. I find the success rate of great sci-if books to screen-- large or small-- to be sadly quite low.
Yeah, I really enjoyed DN! And I can't remember the last time I watched a great sci-fi movie/show. I liked ARRIVAL. That was in 2016. I think that Villeneuve is one of the few directors trying to make sci-fi worth watching. But most of his films are too long and have pacing problems.
That’s unfortunate about “The Peripheral”. William Gibson, along with Neal Stephenson and Bruce Stirling are among the best in the genre - apparently they rarely translate well to live action. Too bad.

That Briston Maroney track is a new one for me. Any song that involves Oregon is a win in my book!
Nice! Are you from Oregon?
I am! I was born & raised there.
Nice! I don't know much about it but I used to love Portlandia. That was probably a very exaggerated version of the city, right?
Haha. Yes, definitely exaggerated. Still funny, though.

Yeah, I was super disappointed as well.
